Longing I,II,III, vinyl/wood/fishing wire,  2021

By stretching and moulding the vinyl, twisting and turning I’ve attempted to infuse the material with homesickness and a desire for physical intimacy. A large piece of the sculpture looms above the rest, out of reach, suspended in a timeless space. This is representative of those we long to touch, a need to connect but of course the viewer could interpret the reverse and see part of themselves that has forcibly become separate. As with all my work I have an initial intention but I am much more interested in providing a platform for others to develop a narrative.
